Designer Gowns Made from 24 Carat Gold

Many of us wear gold in the sense that we put on gold bracelets, gold earrings, gold rings and other jewelry and adornments made from gold. But very few of us have garments that are actually made from gold. Imagine if we did though—it is hard enough remembering to clean your gold jewelry. What would happen if you needed to clean an entire garment made of gold?

A designer from Dubai has created what has been called his "masterpiece" –a wedding gown made using gold. A woman's wedding day is huge for her and many women spare no details or expense when it comes to celebrating this special time. Bearing the importance of that in mind, the designer from Dubai made a wedding dress from one of the world's most celebrated precious metals: 24 carat gold. Whether or not any woman will actually wear this gold dress to celebrate her wedding remains to be seen.

This is not the first garment made from gold created in recent times. There was also a dress made of 24 carat gold filigree. This gold dress actually weighed 2 kilograms. It was seen on display in India last year. Just so you know, a kilogram weighs more than a pound--a kilogram is approximately 2.2 pounds. Someone wearing a gold garment such as the gold filigree dress would not be weighed down so much that it would be a burden, but such a garment would require more energy to wear than the average dress.

Although it would be fun to see gold creations such as these, they hardly seem to fit into every day. In fact, some of you may be more interested in having someone take some gold off of your hands rather than acquiring more gold. You do not want to collect more gold, you want to sell gold and lighten your load. That is fine, we understand.
