Today is Labor Day, a day when we honor people of all walks of life who work hard to keep our country going strong. All people who work make important contributions, but we have to say that the process of getting gold form the Earth is especially labor-intensive. Every year over the Labor Day Weekend, the city of Sacramento has its annual Gold Rush Days festival. The Gold Rush Days festival is a time when Sacramento takes a walk down memory lane by re-enacting the events that took place there during the time of the California Gold Rush. Gold Rushers took big risks in the hopes of finding gold and getting enough cash for gold to improve their lives.
Old Sacramento is filled with historical re-enactors who put on a show that demonstrates what life was like in the days of the Wild West with street dramas, dancing, gun fights, storytelling, crafts, and gold panning. They even dump 200 tons of dirt on the streets of Old Sacramento to really give it the feel of the Wild West. Horse-drawn carriages are the transportation of choice. Old Sacramento has more historic buildings in its 28 acre historic district than similar areas on the west coast.
You can count yourself fortunate that you do not have to go through all that those gold rush pioneers had to go through. We do not doubt that it is fun to participate in the re-enactments, but we know that what cannot be recreated are the dangers those people faced. To sell gold to a gold buyer seems like a piece of cake compared to panning for gold or moving to an unknown territory. You can even go online and get a postage-paid envelope from a gold buyer so you can mail your gold in for evaluation.
